Parents of Teens Leaving The Nest
You wanted your child to become more self-sufficient and now that they are, you wonder, “what’s next for me?”
You’re amazed at the person they have grown to me. But with your child’s independence you’re afraid of losing your identity as a person.
You want to find your own voice and to have self-worth outside of being a parent.
After all, you’ve dedicated your life to your child’s wellbeing. The idea of them not needing you anymore can be terrifying.
You want to be okay, knowing that when it’s time for your children to leave the nest, you raised them as best as you could, with skills that you know will guide them into success for the rest of their lives.
On some level, you do know all of this. Yet, it is the fear of it what this will actually look like.
How We Can Help
What feels like starting over can be daunting and overwhelming. We can help by working together and helping you adjust to the “new normal” that you’re now living in.
This is a big adjustment for you, and as such it is important to be gentle with yourself during this time of transition. You dedicated your life to your child for all these years, and now we will help you see the world from a new perspective.
It is about learning to develop the skills of how to reincorporate “adult” time (time for yourself, and time for you and your partner), and bring new and fresh meaning into your life.
It might be really hard to pick up that phone. Please know that we are here to help guide you and support you in any direction you are ready to go.
