Online Counseling is a great alternative to coming into the office. This is not only a good option when you just can’t be in my office physically due to environmental restrictions such as COVID-19, and social distancing, but there are those who can’t come into the office at all for many other reasons.
Some of these other reasons that might make online counseling a good choice are:
- Chronic Illness
- Cold or Flu, but still want or need, to have a therapy session
- Transportation Issues
- Traffic which doesn’t allow you to arrive to your appointment on time
- Work or School Schedule doesn’t allow for extra travel time
- Weather (which is rare in Southern California, but you never know)
Although online counseling has been around prior to this period of social distancing, many people have not taken advantage of this as an option. People have been more hesitant and not sure that they could “connect” over video or phone.
Much to the majority of our clients’ surprise, they have been able to have helpful, engaging and meaningful sessions. Some clients have even preferred this, and have requested to continue online moving forward.
As with in person sessions, there is no one way to engage in therapy online. We are able to provide both talk therapy and EMDR therapy. Clients have found a sense of relief, support, and have been able to make significant progress during this stressful time of social distancing and isolation.
